A-G Participated in Three Leading Risk Management Insurance Events
The USCAH AHAA Virtual Symposium—June 6, 2024
Everyone involved in athletics, not just healthcare personnel, is responsible for creating a culture prioritizing athlete health and safety. Athletes, coaches, parents, administrators, and officials should all have a baseline understanding of health, safety, and welfare issues common in youth sports. The Athletics Healthcare Administrator Association (AHAA) was created as an extension of the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH), and its symposium is designed to build that baseline and go beyond it to help provide comprehensive healthcare consultation and resources.
One of the many benefits of being an A-G client is a free membership in AHAA, so many of you took advantage of the opportunity to attend on June 6th. At the event, A-G Chief Growth Officer James Shipp, ATC, and A-G Intercollegiate Sports Insurance Consultant Mike Estes, ATC, presented “Insurance Claims, Payments & Discounts: How to Get the Most for Your Healthcare Costs.”

NACDA & Affiliates Convention Week—June 9-12, 2024
The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and Affiliates’ premier event, the Annual Convention and Exhibit Hall, is the country’s largest gathering of intercollegiate athletics administrators. The convention provides a platform for athletic directors, administrators, and professionals in collegiate sports to come together, exchange ideas, and discuss pertinent issues facing the industry. It’s a fantastic opportunity to promote collaboration, foster innovation, and provide a forum for sharing best practices among professionals who play a crucial role in shaping the future of collegiate athletics.
In addition to attending the convention and meeting with many of you throughout the event, A-G hosted a panel discussion about student-athlete well-being during changing times in college athletics. The panel included Chief Executive Officer of A-G Specialty Insurance Dixon Gillis; University of Pittsburgh Director of Athletics Heather Lyke; University of Virginia Sports Psychologist Dr. Jason Freeman; and U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health Senior Director Angie Beisner.

NATA Conference Clinical Symposia & AT Expo—June 25-28, 2024
The National Athletic Trainers’ Association Clinical Symposia is a premier educational platform where athletic trainers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and students can unite and enhance their knowledge, skills, and professional development in sports medicine. It features a comprehensive program with educational sessions, workshops, hands-on demonstrations, research presentations, and networking opportunities.
A-G attended the symposia where we saw renowned experts and thought leaders in athletic training and sports medicine deliver lectures and lead interactive sessions that covered a wide range of topics such as injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, sports performance, emergency care, and health care administration in the athletic training profession. It was a rich learning experience that fostered professional growth and served as a platform for networking and collaboration in the dynamic and evolving field of athletic training.
